Medical Director of the Saint Marina Hospital, Obstetrician – Gynaecologist, Oncologist, Rector of Medical University – Pleven, Head of “Obstetrics and Gynaecology” Department, Centre of Oncology, Medical University, Pleven. Professor Grigor Gortchev, is the only certified surgeon in robotized surgery “Da Vinchi” for Eastern Europe by the end of 2009. He is holding the Honorary Sign of the President of The Republic of Bulgaria for his contribution to the national healthcare. Professor Grigor Gortchev is the first Bulgarian oncogynaecologist to perform Extended Laparoscopic Hysterectomy with Pelvic Lymph Dissection to a woman with Cervix Cancer at 1st stage. Also performing laparoscopic operation on a woman suffering from the same disease, thus preserving her generative functions with the purpose of conceiving by “Invitro” method. Implements advanced technologies in endoscopic surgery by organizing the establishment of “University Telecommunication Endoscopy Centre with Experimental Operating Room”, situated in the Medical University, Pleven, 20.03.2006. May 2006 - awarded with the Honorary Sign of President of the Republic of Bulgaria for his contribution to the healthcare in the country. May 2006 - awarded with the Honorary sign of Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA) January 2006 - nominated for Obstetrician – Gynaecologist of the Year 2005 by the BMA. American Biography Institute – USA and the Committee of International Research –honoured Prof. Dr Grigor Gorchev with the title “Person of the Year – 2005” December, 2005 - Municipal Council – Pleven confers on Prof. Dr. Gorchev the title “Honorary Citizen of the Town of Pleven”. Honored with the “Medical Person of the Year – 2004” by Forum Medicus Newspaper for significant scientific contribution to the development of Bulgarian medical science and for the practice in the sphere of gynecology and oncology. The award is granted for a significant organizational activity in asserting the position of the Medical University – Pleven at the time of reforms in healthcare and in higher education in medicine. Awarded with the Honorary Sign 1st degree by Bulgarian Medical Association for his contribution to the development of the medicine, 2004. Author of 3 monographs, 2 dissertations, 3 scientific movies, articles in scientific magazines and journals – 121, Impact factor /I F/ = 3,356 and over 110 scientific publications abroad.
